Picture about Rotational Inertia
This is a picture of me doing flips into leaves for fun. I ran full speed and jumped off my father's back to propel me into the air. My intentions were to flip and i knew that it wouldn't be possible if i just jumped. If i had just jumped my rotational inertia would be very large and my velocity(spinning) would be very slow. Good thing that wasnt the case. As you can see, my knees are to my chest and my arms are pulling them closer. This bring my center of mass closer to the axis of rotation. This makes my rotational inertia small and makes my velocity(spinning) large. Rotational inertia before=rotational inertia after. In other terms, RI x RV before=RI x RV after. So if my RI is huge then my RV must be small, but if my RI is small then my RV must be large.
